Aptly finished on Burns Night, a bookcase and whiskey display with integrated desk. All the shelves and the desk were made from barrel staves. Carcasses from Oak veneer MDF. Everything sprayed with Morrells Wood Finishes waterborne lacquer. The support for the desk is a steel hoop, as a nod to how barrels are constructed. The tiers along the top for the whiskey have integrated remotely operated LED up lighting. Push-to-open drawer under the desk and a small cupboard as well.

In total I used 9 barrels from a local whiskey bottling company. All the staves has to be trimmed to width, cleaned front and back and then steamed and formed before fastening them together, then flatten them and finally cutting them to the correct dimensions. I’d say 75% of my time on this job was spent working on just the staves. End result looks stunning.
